Bastrop County Cares, a nonprofit organization, is a county-wide partnership working to develop comprehensive community initiatives by identifying community priorities, collecting and analyzing data, and bringing together collaborative partnerships that will result in community solutions. We identify large community issues that one organization cannot tackle on its own and build public will, advance policy, and mobilize and leverage funding.
Executive Director Named
The Bastrop County Cares Board of Directors named Norma Mercado as the organization’s new Executive Director. Mercado brings a wealth of community-building experience to the team.
Hey Dads! Join us on Tuesdays from 6-8 pm at the BCC Office, 806 Water Street, Bastrop for the 24/7 Dad program. 24/7 Dad® supports the growth and development of fathers and children as caring, compassionate people who treat themselves, others, and the environment with respect and dignity. This philosophical basis of caring and compassion forms the underlying structure that constitutes the values taught in the 24/7 Dad® A.M. and P.M. programs. Each 24/7 Dad® Program consists of 12 group-based sessions that build on each other and cover a variety of fathering topics – from family history and what it means to be a man, to communication and dealing with anger.

In collaboration with the City of Bastrop, we’re thrilled to kick off an annual tradition that pays homage to our community’s rich and diverse heritage. This family-friendly festival and Heath and Wellness Rodeo will include an eclectic array of music, art, culinary delights, wellness vendors, and dance.

It’s all about connection. Whether you’re looking for like-minded neighbors to team up around an issue that’s important to you or looking for places to volunteer in Bastrop County, Bastrop Connects will help you make that connection.
I’m so impressed with BCC to have that kind of connection and network across the community, among nonprofits, city governments, and citizens. We could make life easier if we have more volunteers, and BCC makes it so easy!

“If there’s anyone that needs some training, they should contact the Smithville Workforce Training. It’s a wonderful thing. I had that fear of math, and I’ve overcome it,”
